Glasgow Film Theatre and Glasgow Film Festival are now seeking applications for volunteers to assist during the festival 18 – 28th February 2010. The positions offer varying levels of commitment/experience detailed below.

Title: Events Assistant
Period: Part time from 1 February to 17 February, then full time from 18 to 28 February
Position: Assisting the Marketing Manager and the permanent Events Assistant
Role description: The candidate will help with the preparation of events during the GFF10. This will consist of supporting the promotion of, the branding and coordination of events. The assistant will also play a key role in managing the arrival and accommodation for guests coming to GFF10.
Main tasks include: Branding at venues, Arranging hospitality, Flyering, Arranging travel, Customer Service, Other Marketing and Events duties as required
Title: Press Assistant
Period: Part time from the 1st of February to the 17th of February, then full time from the 18th to the 28th of February.
Position: Assisting the Marketing Manager and the permanent Press Assistant.
Role description: The candidate will deal with press enquiries and assist on a variety of marketing activities during the festival. This will consist of writing press releases, sending them out to targeted niche audiences, and arranging press for GFF10
Main tasks include: Arranging Ticketing, Writing Press Releases, E-mailing information on events/films, Other Marketing and Events duties as required
Title: Events / FOH assistant
Period: Part time from the 18th to the 28th of February.
Position: Assisting the permanent Events and Front of House Assistant and the Marketing Manager.?
Role Description: The candidate will support all venues during the GFF10 and the permanent staff with daily requirements.
Main tasks include: Assist on ticketing desks, Provide information to all audiences and customers, Gather customer information, Support special events, Print transport, Other Marketing and Events duties as required
Title: Photographer
Period: Part Time from 18 to 28 of February
Position: Reporting to the Digital and Marketing Manager
Role description: The candidates will take pictures during GFF10 of the various events and guests in the different venues across the city
Title: Picture Editor
Period: Full time 15 - 29 February 2010
Position: Reports to the Digital Marketing Manager
Role Description: Responsible for the running of the festival picture desk and liaising with all festival photographers, ensuring all events are covered, organising shifts, taking receipt of all photos submitted, selecting and resizing images for distribution to press, uploading images to online galleries and platforms and assisting the core team when required.

The Skinny and Glasgow Film Festival are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Editorial Assistant to help co-ordinate The CineSkinny – a daily publication providing features, reviews and coverage for Glasgow Film Festival.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to gain experience in film journalism and/or an insight into the workings of a successful film festival.
Responsibilities:
Working closely with the Editor to help compile each day’s edition of the publication
Helping to ensure smooth running of the publication at every stage of its creation and distribution
Working with the festival team to source photography, keep up to date about changes to the programme and organise the daily competition and listings
Working closely with The Skinny’s web team to upload content to The Skinny’s website
Proofing
There will also be the opportunity to get involved with writing features and reviews too
Skills:
Film festivals are very busy environments, we are ideally looking for someone who is motivated, happy to work on their own initiative and can keep their head when working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
Ideally you will also have:
Strong communication and organisational skills.
A Flair for writing informative and engaging copy.
Excellent attention to detail
A passion for film and good film knowledge.
We anticipate that this role will be approximately 5 hours a day (most likely from 3pm – 8pm) for the duration of the festival plus 3 hours preparation before the festival.
A small remuneration fee will be paid on completion of the job as well as complimentary tickets for the festival and parties.
The Skinny and Glasgow Film Festival are looking for a highly organised Distribution Co-ordinator to manage the distribution and printing of The CineSkinny – a daily publication providing features, reviews and coverage for Glasgow Film Festival.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to gain experience in print and production and/or an insight into the workings of a successful film festival.
Responsibilities:
Take charge of printing several hundred copies of The CineSkinny each day during the festival.
Work closely with festival volunteers to ensure the copying, folding and delivery of the publication to venues across Glasgow.
Ensuring the publication is printed to The Skinny and GFF’s high standards.
Optimising pick up at each venue and working with GFF volunteers to actively promote pick up at these venues.

Film festivals are very busy environments; we are ideally looking for someone who is motivated, happy to work on their own initiative and can keep their head when working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
Ideally you will also have:
Excellent organisational skills
Good team leadership skills – you will be working with GFF volunteers to help distribute the publication
We anticipate that this role will be approximately 3 hours a day (most likely from 9am- 12 noon) for the duration of the festival plus 1 hour preparation before the festival.
This is a voluntary role but you will be able to claim complimentary tickets for the films and parties during the festival.
The Skinny and Glasgow Film Festival are looking for a confident designer/artworker to join the team in charge of creating The CineSkinny – a daily publication providing features, reviews and coverage for Glasgow Film Festival.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to gain experience in designing and laying out a publication whilst also getting an insight into the workings of a successful film festival.
Responsibilities:
Laying out the 4pp newsletter each day of the festival
Following The Skinny’s brand and design guidelines
Sourcing and selecting images
Skills:
Film festivals are very busy environments; we are ideally looking for someone who can keep their head when working under pressure and to tight deadlines. You will need to be a quick artworker and confident that you can layout a 4pp A4 publication in around 2 hours.
You will be:
Proficient at using InDesign
Have an excellent attention to detail
Ability to follow brand and design guidelines
We anticipate that this role will be approximately 3 hours a day (most likely from 5pm- 8pm) for the duration of the festival plus 1 hour preparation before the festival.
This is a voluntary position but you will be able to claim complimentary tickets for the films and parties during the festival.
Now in its sixth year, the annual Glasgow Film Festival brings together cinema from around the world, past and present, old and new talent. Every year, the festival’s scale and reputation grows, which requires increased perseverance and commitment, not to mention manpower.
