FESTIVAL CLUB

New this year - The Festival Club in association with Saint Judes and  Mama san. Every night the action shifts to the Festival Club at Mama san just a stones throw from the GFT and the CCA.

Enjoy a movie-themed  cocktail and Asian-style tapas at special Festival rates whilst  spotting the stars!

Three tapas for £10 and cocktails from £5.

The Opening Gala promises to be a night to remember with the screening of Cassandra's Dream followed by a champagne reception and live entertainment. The festivities will continue over at the Festival Club Mamasan which is open till 3am.

Shorts Film Festival Launch Night

Friday 15th February, 6pm, CCA 

Starting at 6pm the launch Night of the Shorts Film Festival will coincide with the preview of the CCA's newly commissioned film and exhibition Let me show you some things by Sarah Tripp. This evening will allow an excellent opportunity for networking with complimentary drinks being served upon arrival. 

Visible Cinema Networking Event

Sunday 17th February, 6.30pm, CCA

Breaking down the elements of a film screening to test the limits of the traditional cine-form, contemporary art quarterly MAP magazine presents a series of artist's films. This second night of the Short Festival sees another networking event accompained by complimentary drinks.

A round table discussion on the value of short films with practical guidance on getting your film funded. The panel will consist of Zam Salim (filmmaker),  Moira Jeffre (Journalist), Karen O'Hare (GMAC Executive), Robber Allen (Scottish Screen Executive) and Kaleem Aftab (Journalist)

How To Make A Short

A round table discussion on the process of shirt filmmaking: from the development of your initial idea to sourcing collaborators, the shoot and distribution. Panel members include Kate Taylor (Programme London Shorts Film Festival), David Smith (Producer, Broken Spectre) and Matt Palmer (Filmmaker & Cult cinema Programmer)

Over the past three decades John Smith has developed a body of work that deftly subverts the perceived boundaries between truth and fiction. GFF and FrightFest welcomes Jaume Balagueros and Paco Plaza, the co-directors of [REC] are flying over from Barcelona to be with us in Glasgow for the UK premiere of their Spanish hit.

This screening will be introduced by John Cavanagh. John is a broadcaster, musician and collector of vintage analogue equipment. He contributed to the making of the film. Directors Susan Staham and Howard S. Berger will also be attending this screening.

John Sayles has been a dominant figure in American independent cinema for the past thirty years. Hear him discuss the making of Honeydripper (2007) and talk about his remarkable career.
