A packed press launch last night saw the unveiling of the programme of the Glasgow Film Festival 2010. The biggest and most wide ranging yet, it kicks off with the Scottish premier of Micmacs; the latest witty, quirky offering from the director of Amélie and Delicatessen, Jean Pierre Jeunet, who’s also expected to attend the screening.
Boasting a closing gala equally as exciting; the world premiere of Legacy, a taut psychological thriller by British/Nigerian director Thomas Ikimi, shot in Glasgow and featuring The Wire star, Idris Elba, and everything from Cary Grant classics to experimental shorts via a personal appearance from veteran actor James Earl Jones, ticket sales today have exceeded all expectations on the first day of going on sale.
Festival co-director, Allison Gardner says: “We have compiled a wide-ranging programme to suit all tastes and maintained the amazing value of our tickets prices and deals to ensure that Glasgow remains a Festival accessible to all - and this certainly seems to be reflected in the enthusiastic response we are already receiving from the cinema-going public.”
