Out of control genetic experiments (Splice), redneck cannibals (2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams), horror viruses ([REC] 2), underground shocks (Stag Night), treacherous ski slopes (Frozen), brutal ocean slaughter (Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre), classic giallo (A Lizard in a Woman’s Skin) and neo giallo (Amer). Yes, it’s that time of year again as Film4 FrightFest returns to its second home in Scotland with more world, European and UK premieres than ever. Great Britain’s biggest and best horror fantasy film festival celebrated a 10th year anniversary in 2009 with their most epic London event yet. So of course we want Glasgow to join us in commemorating those festivities too. We’ve assembled a line-up of all the latest must-see titles, current hot fantasy festival favourites, plus one restored Italian masterpiece to ensure there’s something wicked for everyone. Joining the party are some really special guests. FrightFest patron saint Adam Green is flying straight from the set of Hatchet 2 to present Frozen. Cube director Vincenzo Natali will launch Splice. And Helen Cattet and Bruno Forzani will present Amer, their homage to Dario Argento, Lucio Fulci and Italian thrillers of the 70s. It’s going to be a fabulous weekend of fear, fun and friends you just won’t want to miss…
