Autumn (Sonbahar)
An auspicious debut from Turkish director Ozcan Alper, Autumn is set in the wild mountainous region in the north of the country and makes stunning use of the natural rugged landscapes. Political activist Yusuf is released from prison after ten years and returns to his home village. In
failing health, he discovers that the youthful idealism he shared with university colleagues has long gone. When Eka crosses the border to the nearby Batum, the two lost souls embark on a relationship. A tale of personal tragedy develops into a bittersweet reflection on a wider sense of disillusionment with the socialist dream.
