Against The Current
The State of Independents
A quirky charmer confronting the lingering pain of grief, Against The Current offers a winning blend of deadpan comedy andheartfelt drama. Joseph (Flash Forward) Fiennes’ Paul has spent five years coming to terms with the death of his pregnant wife. Now, he decides to fulfil a childhood dream of swimming the entire 150 miles of the Hudson River in one month. Sarcastic, wise-cracking best friend Jeff (a scene-stealing Justin Kirk) and Liz (Elizabeth Reaser) provide the moral support and technical back-up as he tackles his impossible quest. Little do they realise that he has another plan for when the task is completed.
We are delighted to welcome Director Peter Callahan who will be introducing both screenings of the film and then will participate in a short Q&A session.
