Strigoi
Best of British

There is no more fashionable genre than the Vampire film but Faye Jackson’s beautiful, blackly humorous debut feature Strigoi brings something fresh to the table. Steeped in the folklore traditions of Romania, it follows prodigal son Vlad as he returns to his home village. The locals seem wary of his presence and suddenly more prosperous. Once feared officials are only seen in the dark of night. The dead are restless in their graves and Vlad’s family have their own secrets to hide in a rich red stew of deadpan comedy, blood ties, class conflict and the realities of life before and after Ceausescu.

We are delighted to welcome director Faye Jackson who will be introducing the film and then will host a short Q&A session.
