Short Documentary Film Case Study: The Inner Shape by Johanna Wagner
Short Film Festival

The Inner Shape was Johanna Wagner’s graduation film from the MA Directing course at Edinburgh Skillset Screen and Media Screen Academy at the Edinburgh College of Art (eca). The film went on to win the Best Short Film award at BAFTA Scotland New Talent Awards in 2008.

In conversation with Emma Davie, documentary filmmaker and Head of Film &TV at Edinburgh College of Art, Johanna describes the process of making the film from idea to distribution and the support that she received from the Screen Academy along the way.   She will also discuss subsequent projects.

Johanna’s recent film Peter in Radioland, made through the Bridging the Gap scheme in 2009, won the Best Short Scottish Documentary award at Edinburgh International Film Festival, and features in our competition programme 1.
