A powerfully stylised account of one girl’s freedom from slavery, writer/director Richard Jobson’s short film The Journey is designed to stimulate debate and discussion about the serious issues involved with human trafficking. Executive produced and narrated by Emma Thompson, The Journey follows Svetlana as she travels from Eastern Europe to London in the hope of living a better life, only to find herself the helpless victim of a ruthless criminal underworld. Containing strong sexual and violent images, The Journey’s uncompromising narrative directly tackles the harsh realities of modern sexual slavery. The screening will be accompanied by a Q & A with the
filmmakers involved, with additional contributions from other groups concerned with arresting the growing spread of human trafficking.
All tickets £3.50
We are delighted to welcome director Richard Jobson who will be introducing the film and then will host a Q&A session after the film. In a change to previously advertised programme Emma Thompson is unable to join us for this screening due to filmmaking commitments.
