I'm Glad That My Mother Is Alive (Je Suis Heureux Que Ma Mere Soit Vivante)
Collaborating with his son Nathan, French director Claude Miller has created one of the most expertly crafted, heartrending dramas of his long career. Inspired by a true incident, the film tells the story of Thomas (Vincent Rottiers). Given up for adoption by his teenage mother Julie (Sophie Cattani), Thomas has grown into an angry young man. He is obsessed with the woman who abandoned him and unable to fully embrace the kind-hearted couple who have given him a loving home. Beautifully acted by Rottiers and Cattani, this is a tenderly observed exploration of the way we hurt the ones we love the most.
We are delighted to welcome co-director Nathan Miller to both screenings to answer your questions after the film.
