I Killed My Mother (J'ai Tue Ma Mere)
The turbulent relationship between a mother and a son unfolds with a compelling combination of savage fury and melting affection in I Killed My Mother. This stunning, semiautobiographical tour de force from writer/director/producer and lead actor Xavier Dolan is a film with the sting of shrewdly observed truth. Petulant, floppy-haired gay adolescent Hubert (Dolan) hates every aspect of his mother’s life from the way she eats to the clothes she wears. He isn’t shy about telling her. The film skillfully captures both sides of a complex relationship depicted with brutal honesty and wild humour.
