Holiday
One of the great underrated gems from Cary Grant’s early career, Holiday is a magical adaptation of the Philip Barry play with Grant delivering one of his most witty, thoughtful and charming performances. Grant falls in love with New York heiress Doris Nolan but once he meets the parents he feels a whole world of stuffy, stifling high society formality beginning to squeeze the life out of him. Fortunately, Nolan’s unconventional sister is played by a beguiling Katharine Hepburn and so there is a kindred spirit on hand to offer an escape route from a fate that seems signed, sealed and delivered. Sheer delight.
